Mexican Avocado Tomatillo Spicy Salsa

A vibrant, creamy, and zesty salsa with a spicy kick, perfect for tacos, chips, or as a flavorful topping for your favorite dishes!
Ingredients:
- 5 tomatillos, husked and rinsed
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1–2 serrano or jalapeño peppers (adjust based on spice preference)
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 garlic clove
- 1/4 cup onion, chopped
- Juice of 1 lime
- Salt, to taste
Directions:
1. Cook the Tomatillos:
- Place the tomatillos in a saucepan and cover with water.
- Bring to a boil and cook for about 5 minutes, or until the tomatillos soften and turn a slightly dull green.
- Drain the water and let the tomatillos cool slightly.
2. Blend the Ingredients:
- In a blender or food processor, combine:
- Cooked tomatillos
- Avocado (peeled and pitted)
- Serrano or jalapeño peppers
- Garlic clove
- Onion
- Fresh cilantro
- Lime juice
- Blend until smooth and creamy.
3. Adjust Seasoning:
- Taste the salsa and add salt to your preference.
- If the salsa feels too thick, mix in a splash of water until it reaches your desired consistency.
4. Serve:
- Transfer the salsa to a bowl and serve immediately. Pair it with tortilla chips, drizzle it over tacos, or use it as a dipping sauce for grilled meats and veggies.
Tips for Success:
- For Extra Smokiness: Roast the tomatillos, peppers, and garlic on a dry skillet or over an open flame before blending.
- Milder Salsa: Remove the seeds from the peppers to reduce the heat.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Enjoy this creamy, tangy, and spicy Avocado Tomatillo Salsa that brings a burst of freshness to any meal! ¡Buen provecho!
