
Homemade Salsa Verde in a Molcajete
Ingredients:
5 green tomatoes (tomatillos)
1 red tomato
Serrano peppers
Onion
Garlic
Salt
Procedure:
I boiled five green tomatoes, one red tomato, and three serrano peppers. Once they were fully cooked, I placed a piece of onion, garlic, and salt in the molcajete (traditional mortar and pestle) and began grinding them together. Then, I added the peppers and continued grinding. Next, I mashed the green tomatoes, followed by the red tomato. Finally, I added a few sprigs of chopped cilantro and an avocado for extra flavor and creaminess.
